Kasbah Des Caids

1500’s Desert Oasis Castle Located on the Ancient route between Marrakech and the Sahara Desert in Morocco

At Kasbah des Caïds, my role is centered on long-term architectural stewardship and the strategic direction of the kasbah as a living hotel and cultural site.

I lead the design, restoration, and spatial evolution of the kasbah, working closely with local master builders and craftspeople to preserve traditional earthen construction while adapting the site for contemporary hospitality. Alongside this, I advise on hotel operations- shaping layouts, guest experience, programming, and systems that allow the kasbah to function sustainably without compromising its architectural or cultural integrity.

The project is both built work and ongoing research: a study in climate-responsive design, vernacular materials, and how historic structures can be thoughtfully reactivated for modern use. Through retreats, weddings, and cultural gatherings, the kasbah remains economically viable and deeply connected to its oasis community.

This work reflects my broader approach to architecture, design as stewardship and long-term vision, where buildings are not managed moment to moment, but carefully guided over time.
